We recently undertook a comprehensive Cooling Tower repair project at the Docklands, Melbourne, delivering expert services and premium materials to ensure peak performance and longevity.

Epoxy Coating

Our initial work included the preparation of the lower sump for epoxy coating. This involved removing the existing sealant, strainer cover, and thoroughly cleaning the sump. Following this preparation, we applied three coats of epoxy to ensure durability and a seamless finish. The lower sump was then resealed, and the strainer cover was refitted, restoring its functionality.

Drift Eliminators and Structural Repairs

We supplied and installed new CF ULTRA BRENTWOOD Drift Eliminators complete with support straps for both Condenser 1 and 2. Additionally, a new centre support for the Drift Eliminators was also installed. As part of this project, we repaired holes in the upper casing, ensuring the Cooling Tower’s structural integrity and operational effectiveness.

Fan Barrel and Bearing Replacement

The existing fan barrels were replaced with newly fabricated units designed to restore optimal airflow and maintain structural integrity within the Cooling Tower. In addition, new fan shaft bearings were installed to ensure precise alignment and smooth rotational operation.

Ball Float Assembly and Snub Replacement

Installed a new makeup water snub valve and ball float assembly to improve automated water level regulation and minimize overflow risk.

Cooling Tower Refurbishment - Epoxy Coating

Extend the lifespan of your Cooling Tower with professional epoxy coating. Our refurbishment process restores efficiency, prevents further corrosion, and reduces maintenance costs.

Cooling towers are essential components in industrial and commercial Industries, helping regulate temperatures and maintain operational efficiency. However, over time, exposure to, chemicals, and environmental factors can lead to corrosion, compromising the tower’s performance and longevity.

Our Recent Cooling Tower Refurbishment Project

We were recently commissioned to restore a heavily corroded cooling tower, which had suffered significant internal and external deterioration due to rust and chemical exposure. Both surfaces required extensive preparation before recoating to ensure a durable and long-lasting solution.

The Restoration Process

Surface Preparation: The first step involved sandblasting the internal and external components of the Cooling Tower. This process effectively removed rust and contaminants, creating a clean and roughened surface for optimal coating adhesion.

Epoxy Coating Application: Once the surfaces were properly prepared, we applied 3 coats of Amerock 400 a proven high-performance epoxy coating designed to withstand the harsh conditions Cooling Towers endure.

Final Inspection: After the coating cured, we conducted a thorough quality check to ensure complete coverage and adherence.

The result? A fully refurbished Cooling Tower with enhanced durability and protection against corrosion. The client was highly satisfied with the transformation and the improved lifespan of their equipment.

The Benefits of Epoxy Coating for Cooling Towers

Epoxy coating is a highly effective solution for extending the life and efficiency of cooling towers. Here’s why:

Superior Corrosion Resistance: Epoxy forms a moisture-resistant barrier that protects metal surfaces from rust and deterioration.
Chemical & Wear Protection: It shields components from harsh chemicals, reducing degradation over time.
Extended Equipment Lifespan: By preventing corrosion, the coating helps Cooling Towers last longer with fewer repairs.
Lower Maintenance Costs: Reduced wear and tear mean less frequent maintenance, saving time and money.
Improved Efficiency: A well-maintained Cooling Tower operates more efficiently, optimising energy use and system performance.

Investing in Long-Term Cooling Tower Protection

By investing in an epoxy coating solution, it will extend equipment lifespan and improve overall operational efficiency.

If your Cooling Tower is showing signs of corrosion or wear, consider a professional refurbishment.
